Evaluation Q.4. How did you use media technologies in the construction, researcch, planning and evaluation stages?

The video above is a directors talking about some of the technique/camera shots and editing used to make our music video.

During the beginning of making our music video, we put forward numbers of ideas. One of those ideas was to go into the studio and use the green screen, however we came to a conclusion that we Will not use the green screen footage because it will make our music video look unreal and un-professional. Further more one we decided to add a black and white effect to our music video so we excluded the green screen footage.

When we finished capturing all the footage for our music video, we decided to start editing. In the process of editing we used Final Cut Pro. We used final cut pro to add video filters such as black and white and light rays. The black and white filter allowed us to change our coloured video into black and white, this gave our video a professional look and it also gave our footage a neat and sharp look .After we finished our completed product we decided to start marketing and distributing our product.First we used final cut pro to turn our video into a quick-time movie, then we uploaded our music video onto "YOUTUBE". Youtube is a video-sharing website which allows people across the world to view your video and also comment.

Before we started our project we used some search engines to research deep information about our music genre. We used "Google" and "Wiki-pedia", Google Google App Engine lets you run web applications on Google's infrastructure. App Engine applications are easy to build, easy to maintain, and easy to scale as your traffic and data storage needs grow. With App Engine, there are no servers to maintain: You just upload your application, and it's ready to serve your users.Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia. The name is a portmanteau of the Hawaiian word for quick, "wiki", and "encyclopedia".

NET & 2D VERSION OF DIGIPACK

Our audience and the designers we asked told us that our digipack needs to link in with our music video. So we took some screen grabs of our music video and combined them with our old images to create our new digipack. As you can see we made most of the images on our digipack black and white, this because our music video is black and white. We also left 2 images in colour because we wanted to denote the storyline of rich and poor.(SEE PICTURE BELOW)

This is our 6 panel net for our digipack, we used photoshop to produce our 6 panel net. We used tools such as the; the pen tool, rectangular marquee tool and the circular marquee tool. We also used the eraser tool to create the cut and folds lines on our net. SEE PICTURE BELOW!

FINAL album cover

We decide to change our album cover because the draft that we had, had a lot of components to look at. the draft that we produced were appealing but there was too much on one page. We decided to research other album cover so we can produce an album cover that can focus on one aspect on the page. We took the theme of calm and humbleness from other album cover to produce ours and also to the position of text and typography. (see below for final album cover)

FINAL DIGIPACK

DIGIPACK

As a group we came together to create our digipack, after creating the net for our digipack on photoshop, we decided to put the our album cover, back cover, etc on our 6 panel digipack. We produced a 2d and a 3d version, then we showed if to some of our audience and also some designers. Our audience and designers told us we can improve it and make it more appealing so we took their advice and STARTED to produce a more appealing DIGIPACK.
SEE BELLOW for our first draft of our 6 panel digipack.

Analysing a press pack

A press pack, is often referred to as a media kit in a business environments, is a pre-packaged set of promotional materials of a person, company, or organization distributed to members of the media for promotional use. They are often distributed to announce a release or for a news conference. As we can see from the images below of a press pack, we notice that the press pack contains a lyrics book, posters, a picture booklet and many more. However we will use a press pack to put our lyrics book and posters in and also to distribute our record label.

Analysing a digipack

As you can see from the images below, you can tell that these are a panel digipack. As you can see the 6 panel digipack has an inside which contains the CD, pictures of the artist and a little brief of the artist or the company.
The back of the 6 digipack will contain information like the track list, Album cover and maybe an inspiring lyrics from the album. However we are going to use a 6 panel digipack for our album, this is due to the amount of information and images we want to put in it.

Researching Digipack and Press pack

Now that our video is complete, we are going to start producing our digipack and press pack. The press pack will go long side the digipack. Before we create our digipack and press pack, we will research into different types of digipaks and press pack. A digipak is a form of presenting a CD or DVD through a book style paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one re more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. A press pack is a form of presenting poster, lyrics books and information about the artist.

Second draft for magazine advert

This is the second draft for our magazine advert. We've taken draft two as our guide line to design our magazine advert because it shows the two artist in the middle of our page. the effect of this allows us to put all the necessary conventions and they are located around the page. This is important because it draws the attention of our target audience.
