Evaluation Q.1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In our music video, have use a lot of different devices to make our video effective, such as different props and we have used the green screen to its full potential and took advantage of the facilities available. What makes it different from real media products is that we tried to balance the footage from outside and the green screen room to create a superb visual video, which differs real media products. We used interesting locations to give our video an extra edge, but we also acted naturally not as if we was acting like a normal rap video when you feel like that artist has rehearsed it many times, we went out and did what we felt. We challenged forms of real life products by not really having a story as the video is made up of different shots with different locations and doesn't give the audience a clear view of what is happening and by doing this, we strayed away from a linear narrative and tried to let the audience think for themselves and come up with their own conclusion of what is happening with the character.

What separates our video to an real rap artist video is the location, you wouldn't have a famous artist filming in Manchester in winter they would rather go to something where its sunny, also we didn't feature any girls in video which is different to typical rap video which features girls almost naked and degrading themselves which is a typical stereotype. Our music video has similar conventions to a typical rap video because our artist is performing and there are fast cuts to the beat.

Using Goodwin's theory of the six major conventions of a music video we've been able to assess our own video to see if it follows these conventions. One of Goodwin's theories is that the lyrics and the visual have relationship between them in our video of dollar and a dream the relationship is shown when "young nigga with his jeans low" is shown which shows the connection between the lyrics and the visuals. We planned on showing the jeans low because it symbols " freedom and cultural awareness among many youths or a symbol of their rejection of the values of mainstream society" this is the beliefs of the rap artist community and young teenagers in America.
This is shown in the image below where the performer has his jeans low to indicate the relationship between the lyrics and visual.

Another of Goodwin's theories refers to the genre conventions of a video. There are many traits in a music video that are specific to the genre of the song, in the song take a chance on me by JLS (URL - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIzw7BHmkN4) he is filming in a urban location as you can see the London wheel in the shot at 0:30. The way they are dressed is a very typical fashion which must artist dress which is a similar approach we took when we was creating our video, also their locations which we could recreate in our image

Finally another of Goodwins theories is the representation of the musician or artist that is portrayed in the video. Some record labels have huge power over the way their artists are dressed and how they act in the music video to please certain audiences, an example of this is the pop culture who please their audiences by singing love songs and dressed in colorful clothing but in the Rap industry if they feel that your dressing to impress they label you a sell out because your acting and not being yourself. We took this into consideration when we was making our video. Birdman - Y.U. MAD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHgOvf7710k) is a typical Rap video were you can tell that the record company hasn't had any input in the video compared to a video such as Britney spears - toxic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZuxwVk7TU&ob=av2e) which is typical pop video which you can tell the artist is dressed in a certain fashion and acts in a certain manner to please his/her's audiences.

Evaluation Q.2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Our magazine advert compliment to the other aspects which makes our main product in many ways. The ways that our magazine advert compliment the other aspects are things such us the main focus on the two performers in the music video. During our studio shoot we direct more light on Dee to enhance that he;s the main performer, we carried on this idea on out magazine advert; as you can see Gilbert( the back ground performer) has more dark shade and dark atmostphere around him to in comparison to Dee(the main performer) has a light shade and a bright atmosphere on the magazine advert. This technique was to show our target audience who's the main performer and you can also spot this technique in our music video. The information on the magazine advert also relates to out main product. Top right Conner contains the album name, bottom left Conner shows our target audience where they can purchase our product. The information on the bottom half of the magazine advert tells our audience when the release date is and also who the song is made by, finally there is a sticker of the distribution logo on the left bottom Conner.
However we also linked our album cover to our music video. We link our album cover to the music video in ways such as the music video's song and the storyline of the song.We decided to put the main performer in front of the album cover because he was featured more in the music video, doing this curry on the idea of showing the main artist to our target audience. As you can see we have made the metals in the album cover shiny this is to connote the the story line of him being rich now. We wanted to draw the attention of the audience to the main performer so we limited the amount of text we put on the album cover. As you can see from the album cover located on the left of the screen, the text are small and there's only two lines of text.

The advert and some aspect of the cd cover will help to sell our product because firstly, the cd cover is appealing, and secondly the advert shows the audience where they can purchase our product from. we used some online markets such as itunes,7digital and hmv.com.

Evaluation Q.3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

We used Facebook to collect opinions of what people think people about our music video, we sent the video to people through email and ask them to tell us what they liked. What the think about the editing and personal comment, we taught the form of viral marking will be effective because it is quicker way for us to get our feed back.

Our audience told us that "well I thought ii was well thought out, there was just the right amount of movements (if that makes sense) I also felt like you and your friend connected with the audience which was very effective for the viewer, can't think of anything else" which was said by Sabrina.

“Another person also said that “I like the use of filters it gives it a dramatic feel, which is enhanced by the performance which match the lyrics and their serious tone, however the lip-syncing could be improved” said by joshua

“We also asked one of our target audience and they said; "hm alright well I like the filtering effect you did, the gray is good, some of the shots & scenes in there are in good places as-well,, the mouthing to the lyrics is a little bit off, I don't know if u need to try and match it a bit better or whether your friend needs to look more confident with it in it, or whether he needs to mouth it better so that u can clearly see him forming the words, but yeah decent all around, I'm no expert on media projects but that was my opinion and I think it was pretty good for your first time” (Levar)

“Yes bro, I am liking the black and white first of all, a good range of shots very good actually. Good but you could have done better on the lip-syncing and the range of customers. The shots are very very good though and the song is brilliant." (Kwame)

“The video is really good but you can tell that the guy was lip-syncing, obviously I know he is supposed to be but he could have made it less obvious but the quality and everything is really good” said by Bukunnmi

We learnt that our audience liked certain aspects of our music video.

We found out that our target audience thought the lipsynching could have been better.
